Pellet Fuel Systems and Stoves
Just imagine ...
- a wood burning stove that you only have to fuel twice a week for continuous operation.
- A stove that you can contact by mobile phone to have it turn itself up when you are caught in a rain shower, to have the room gloriously hot when you return.
- A stove so efficient that the traditional chimney can be replaced by a three inch diameter pipe.
- A stove that attracts grant aid from central government because you are doing your bit in reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
A flight of fancy?
No! The pellet stove system is here!
Wood Pellets
| Wood is often a waste product, often buried in landfill sites to rot and produce methane - one of the most noxious and damaging of greenhouse gases.
|
Take that wood, pulverise it, pass it through a drying process and then take the resultant dust and using pressure extrusion you can create a wood pellet.
Why bother?
Well, unlike the original material, that is a 'Solid' fuel, wood pellets, when en masse, can be encouraged to behave like a liquid. |
 |
They can be pumped, or gravity fed to appliances. The heat-producing, calorific value is higher than the original wood because moisture content can be controlled during the production process. |
Pellet Supplies and Availability
But! Before you get too excited, remember that the British pellet fuel industry is in its infancy. There are, as yet, few plants to produce the pellet fuel. Few standards exist with regard to quality control.
Cost of pellet fuel is still high in the UK compared to our European counterparts. And the availability of imported, high quality fuel, is sporadic, to say the least.
We, in the UK exist within an energy framework that is electricity daft!
CHP projects (Combined Heat and Power) seem to fascinate central government who would much rather burn the fuel for us, then sell us the electricity produced.
Wood Pellet Suppliers in Scotland
Arbuthnott Wood Pellet Supplier Scotland | Kincardine The Future of Pellet Stove Technology
At Stove Experience we believe that the Pellet stove market is rather like the compact disc market of thirty years ago -
Machinery (Players) was in short supply and hideously expensive. Fuel (Discs) wasn’t readily available and quality was largely uncontrolled. Existing interests (Video) were determined to slow the development and progress of something new. But, all that said, we got there!
